All on-site operations are governed by a clearly defined system of pre-job Risk Assessment and Safety Analysis. In addition, the Team Leader assesses all aspects of safety on a continual basis.
A process of ongoing audits, assessments, reviews and safety meetings, to ensure the performance further strengthens this and effectiveness of the system is continually updated and improved.
In 1991 Hi-Rope (later incorporated into Applus RTD) became a full and active member of the Industrial Rope Access Trade Association (IRATA), following the successful audit of our Safety and Quality systems.
IRATA is the nationally recognised association supporting the rope accesses industry, which in turn is supported by the HSE. The HSE has co-operated with IRATA in the production of the current working guidelines, which now provide the industry standard on a world-wide basis.
As a member of The British Safety Council, Applus RTD is, in addition, provided with regular updates regarding legislative developments across a broad range of current issues.

As far as is reasonably practicable the Company will conduct and monitor its service to protect the environment from impairment.
In all of the Company's activities high standards of operation will continue and concepts such as Best Practicable Environmental Option and Duty of Care, which are particularly relevant to the Environmental Protection Act, will be implemented as and when applicable.
As part of this responsibility Applus RTD supports the Wildlife Trust and has worked closely with the Trust on several environmental projects.

Safety Performance Targets are agreed by the Managers and Directors of the company, the Safety Performance Statistics and Accident Frequency Rate are then closely monitored for upward trends.
Every year RoSPA (The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents - one of the worlds leading health and safety organisations) invites companies of all sizes, from all sectors of industry and commerce to enter the Occupational Health & Safety Awards Scheme.
Companies who want to prove to others, as well as themselves, that they take health and safety seriously.
Companies who are willing to play there part in raising health and safety standards right across the board, by working hard to improve their own performance.
Entrants for these awards must firstly provide evidence of good safety management practice and secondly demonstrate a consistently good or continuously improving accident / injury performance.
The awards are presented annually and Applus RTD have received the ROSPA GOLD AWARD in 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, and have been awarded the ROSPA GOLD MEDAL in 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005.
