Applus RTD has a temporary position of Mechanical Inspector at one of our client sites. Applicants should be fully conversant in all aspects of mechanical inspection.
Main Duties of the role:
- To provide an inspection services for all site mechanical equipment and assets, make assessments against requirements of legislation, evaluate suitability for continued safe use, advise on the intent and urgency of remedial work required and on necessary changes to planned preventive maintenance schedules to prevent recurrence. Must have experience of pressure vessel inspections in accordance with WSEs
To assess the condition of moving machinery/rotating equipment using vibration, noise and lubricant oil (including wear debris) analysis techniques. To establish the root cause defects and advise on the extent and urgency of remedial work required and on necessary changes to planned preventive maintenance schedules to prevent recurrence.
- Must have working knowledge of Pressure Systems Safety Regulations 2000.
- To apply Risk Based Inspection (RBI) methodology to non-statutory plant, assign priorities, establish inspection regimes and carry out inspections.
- To be able to work at heights and in confined spaces, be MEWP (Mobile Elevated work platform) trained. It would be advantageous if the applicant possesses PCN Level 2 qualification in Liquid Penetrant Inspection.
Applicants must understand company and regulatory practices and procedures associated with systems carrying both hazardous and Pressurised System relevant fluids, and have familiarity with common items of equipment used in the Manufacturing and Utilities processes.
Good interpersonal and communication skills will be necessary for both on and off site contact.
An understanding of Access databases would be advantageous but not essential as training will be given.
